finished

so happy to have finished all the assignments for this class and not have to worry about taking a final. its been a really long semester for me taking 19 credits, ill never do that again. just want to wish everyone good luck on finals!!

pathmark

this morning in path mark when i was going down the cereal isle i noticed the funniest thing. I'm not sure how old the child was but I'm guessing between 3-6 and he was grabbing lucky charms cereal and throwing it into his mothers shopping cart and s they walked the mother put it back on the shelf. Once the kid noticed he ran back and grabbed that same box of lucky charms and put it back in the cart and once again the mother took it out and this time the child cried. she said no because it had marshmallows but he can have the plain letters one without the marshmallow. The child was not happy but he knew it was either that or nothing so he said yes and stomped his foot and made an angry face.

I didn't get to see any little kids this weekend because my Olivia was away and I finished my observations, in fact I did 16 hours. However what i did notice and found interesting was on Friday. I was at my friends college softball game and one of her teams was knocked out by the catcher. Two girls literally ran right into each other and the entire team went running over to check on her. I was shocked that the other team simply acted like nothing even happened. I was blown away by the lack of interest from the other team. There was a girl laying on the ground with her team surrounding her and the other team just had little conversations going on in the field.

4-1-2011

first I forgot how fun april fools was until i got to the school today. The Kids were playing tricks left and right on both the students and to the sub. I was placed in a fourth grade science class that had a sub. When i walked in the office the secretary said the sub called 2 times and school only started 15 min ago so i was sent to help her. Since i know the kids, soon as I walked in they went right to their seats and stopped playing around. It was pretty funny that i had more control then the sub did. Since they had a sub they mostly did busy work. They worked on a packet dealing with rocks and minerals. The sub read to them, they did the questions, then we went over it as a class and thge students took turns coming up to write their answers on the smart board. Later on I got to give the weekly spelling test which is always fun for me.

observation

This week I was in a fourth grade classroom. I was with a math teacher who teaches the same thing for three classes in a row only this day was longer because they were taking a state practice test. At first i thought this wouldn't be a good day to observe but it really was. I got to hear all the questions they were asking and their questions were on just about everything since it was a state test. The biggest thing i noticed was their problems with the vocabulary used. They struggled because they didn't understand everything in the question and we weren't able to help them which results in them getting the question wrong.

This week i got to see tons of kids having fun at chuckie cheese. It was my first time there with Liv and we had a blast. One incident i remember was on the jungle gym there was a little boy probably around three and he was about half way up and was crying. I noticed that only girls stopped to check on him, while the boys just kept running through. It was interesting to see kids who had patience and those who didnt. It was a cool place to observe if anyone needs ideas.

I still havent had the chance to get in the schools yet. I plan on setting that up this week. However this week when babysitting, my liv had a sleepover so I got the chance to see her interact with another child just a year older. One thing that really stood out to me was the issue of sharing. I think since her friend has two siblings shes used to it and waiting her turn where as liv wants things the second she asks for it. I also noticed at bed time her friend read a book and liv took a book and made up her own story based on the pictures which was cute.
